James Bamford Endorses Boiling Frogs Post

'Help Wake up the American public before the water gets too hot to climb out of the pot'

JamesBamfordMy congratulations to Sibel Edmonds on the launch of “Boiling Frogs”!  At a time when most mainstream news organizations are constantly following the beat of the same few drummers, there is a critical need for independent, alternative, and new media to expand the boundaries of thought.  For nearly a decade, Sibel has fought against excessive government secrecy, built up an organization of more than one hundred national security whistleblowers, and exposed government attempts to cover-up abuses.

Now with BOILINGFROGSPOST.COM, Sibel is taking the next step and establishing a beautifully designed website to give voice to these ideas, opinions, and viewpoints that are largely missing from the narrow stream of daily journalism. It is an appropriate metaphor.  Like frogs slowly boiling as the water temperature gradually increases, many Americans have slowly grown to accept as normal increasing governmental abuse, from torture to warrantless wiretapping to wars based on lies.

Supporting Boiling Frogs is an important way to wake up the American public before the water gets too hot to climb out of the pot.

@ Simon: Thank you for your kindness. Please refrain from posting long copy-paste items from other sites. Just a link and maybe an excerpt…

    Many thanks,

  3. Hi Sibel,

Good to see the endorsements coming in.

    My suggestion still stands:
    Save yourself
    Save your sanity
    Cut down your power bill
    And turn off the MSM

Then, send in some of the savings to here :).

    What a brilliant idea!

  4. It\’s funny, I have been skeptical about everything related to government, especially when it comes to our intelligence agencies and War Planning Department (which includes State Dept., Pentagon, Treasury, White House, Congress), for the past 10 years. I actually stumbled on Sibel\’s story via Scott Horton and Anti-War Radio on the 26th of October and have been engrossed in every podcast, video, article, ect. I can find the past 10 or so days. I find Sibel and John Cole\’s story completely shocking, I cannot believe that I was so ignorant about this subject. I have always thought the official story of 9/11 as told by the establishment was completely bogus, but was so focused on the civil libertarian issues of the Bush administration I gave 9/11 little thought. But it\’s all so completely related. I am so grateful that you all are taking the risk by displaying character NO ONE in the MSM or establishment has in the past 10 years– namely, integrity, honesty, professionalism, and, most importantly, patriotism. Thank you for keeping the information flowing and the pressure mounting.

  5. John Friend,

Sibel’s story is not just about 9/11 and civil liberties, but also the corruption of the U.S. Congress. It really is a wake up call: if you think just putting the Democrats in power will change things, think again.

Last night’s election indicate to me, at least, that the public is seeing through the Democratic Party’s broken promises. Unfortunately, with only one viable alternative in place, voters either stayed home or swung to the Republicans.

If there were a viable alternative, we might be able to bring both parties in line.

  6. @Miguel: Right on. My current slogan on this: ‘Vote Independent.’
    @T: Your support- greatly appreciated.

http://www.911blogger.com/node/13735. This links to a short video of Ret. Professor and Canadian diplomat, poet, and author Peter Dale Scott who has some (always) well-considered thoughts on the “two-party” system, in which, the property party always wins. His message surmounts pessimism in favor of a guarded optimism IF we are able to do the right thing and use the Constitution to reclaim democracy.

In another video he discusses historical precedents of countries that fell due to the massive movement of wealth from the poor and middle (as in recent US) classes to the super rich. He refers to Kevin Phillips’ book Wealth and Democracy. (amazon.com is always good for reading book reviews, I’ve thought, and so thinks the gentleman at Republican Roundtable who introduces Scott at another speech he was invited to give-nervously,
Scott admitted, as he’d never spoken to repubs before.

Ralph Nader has an idea in his “Only the Super-Rich Can Save Us Now”, and via a great discussion on last month? Amy Goodman show.

The blogs following “Stupor Tues.” video of Scott are interesting in discussion concerning/correction of Scott’s Polish discussion of Walesa/Solidarity as being noble and worthy of emulation.( It’s difficult to outgrow cold-war mentality and not everybody knowss the true history of yet another (apparently) cia/spy-infested “movement”.

Sibel-I tell everyone about you and will soon send as much as I can afford. Thank you profoundly and best of luck—-to ALL of us, world round.

As Peter Dale Scott says -he has hope because of two allies in particular: TRUTH AND THE INTERNET.
(So let us all lobby for net neutrality, via one good means, freepress.org.And let us NOT take it for granted.)

  8. Miguel,

I have completely given up on our two party system, and do no think that “putting Democrats in power will change things.” I had countless friends vote for Obama, and two of my best friends worked for his campaign in Michigan and Minnesota. I was a Nader supporter from the beginning. But even he wasn’t really pushing for a complete accountability campaign in the fashion that is needed. We need someone that is ready to take on this subject, and inform the people what is really going on in our government.

I just read Phillips’ book (Wealth and Democracy) this summer and it is an amazing read. It’s a thorough indictment of our political and economic system, and I wish the issues he raises were discussed more widely.

  9. I put a link to this video of Craig Murray in the comments a while back. There’s a second part now. In this one he talks a little about the heroine trade at the end.

    Hi, Sibel and All,

I heard some good news today on the radio. Apparently, Denver’s KBDI is launching a publically funded Invesitgative News Operation. They seem to be unafraid of taking the lead, as they recently promoted 911: Press for Truth during their annual fund drive and apparently did pretty well with fundraising from it.

I don’t know if their new project has major corporate underwriters or not, but it sounded like welcome news for this community.

  11. I will re-post boiling frogs on my site and get you some traffic and money. Sites like this are desperately needed to combat the MSM. And thank you to everyone who donated!

  12. Sibel,

I sent you an email on this. I will be inreviewed on the Jeff Farias internet talk show Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 PM EST. Here’s the link to his website:

We will discuss my upcoming piece on Warrantless Wiretaps and help to publicize our humble salon here.

  13. @Ishmael: I’ll be tuning in! I think we’ll have your piece up by Sunday noon.

    @Ry:… and thank YOU.

By the way, soon (hopefully soon) we’ll have ‘reply’ function/plugin for each comment; meaning: we don’t have to do this absurd ‘@’ stuff to respond to others. Thanks for being patient with my technologically slow (very slow) side; but I’d warned you. Here is one outragous confession: I didn’t know what ‘plug in’ referred to until a few weeks ago!

Mr. Bamford should endorse this site by contributing an article to it! I am sure he has 1200 words on something that he has been meaning to get out. Maybe it didn’t fit into his book projects or other publications wouldn’t run it…I’m sure he has some file sitting on his desk that he hasn’t yet gotten around to.
