Ray McGovern shares with us his analysis of the recent article published in the Atlantic written by the infamous American-Israeli writer Jeffrey Goldberg on Israel’s case for bombing Iran and the reasons why the United States should join in. He talks about the ramifications of the recent and ongoing WikiLeaks disclosures, the pitiful state of the mainstream media, the Internet as the new fifth estate, and more.

  1. The following is the response and comment I left on both the Atlantic article in question and at it’s corresponding link at Huffington Post:

As a former NUCWEPS guy, I have a few questions for Mr. Goldberg. The Iranians aren’t stupid. They know Israel has them targeted. So I would expect any and all Iranian nuclear facilities to be in deep, hardened bunkers below ground. THAT means, the only EFFECTIVE way of destroying them, particularly in a single strike, would be an Israeli Pre-emptive Nuclear strike on Iran. So my questions to Mr Goldberg are,

    1. How would any Israeli strike, nuclear or non-nuclear enhance Israel’s security?

    2. What would be the impact on the 50,000 US troops in Iraq of such a strike?

    3. What makes Israel think THEIR nuclear facility at Dimona would be immune to a counter-attack, whether by Iranian missiles or commando attacks by elements of Hezbollah or Hamas?

    4. What would be the impact on the Saudi government for THEIR acquiecsense once the Muslim world found out about their assistance?

I ask these questions because, unlike Goldberg’s rosy view of such an attack, I see a much darker and more dangerous scenario:

Israel attacks Iran’s facilities with nuclear weapons and actually succeeds in neutralizing the bulk of them. Iran responds by closing the Hormuz Straits with Sunburn and Yakhonts anti-ship missiles concealed in the moutainous Iranian Littoral. Oil prices spike to the $2-500/bbl level devastating the World Economy. Shi’ite Iraq explodes in rebellion and targets any and all US troops remaining there. The Shi’ite populations of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states also rebel making the ruling sheikhs positions there much more problematic. Any US ships foolish enough to be caught inside the Persian Gulf would be sunk by swarm attacks of Iranian Planes and speedboats carrying Shkval rocket torpedos and the aforementioned Sunburn and Yakhonts missiles. This scenario was born out in US war games a few years ago. Iran launches Missile attacks on Dimona and Hezbollah and Hamas send commando teams into the Negev to also strike Dimona. the Saudi regime would face an uprising by BOTH it’s Sunni AND Shi’a population for aiding the Israelis. China dumps it’s dollar holdings onto the world market en masse driving the US into Bankruptcy and default. Russia responds with a nuclear attack on Israel since Russian engineers are doing much of the work at Bushehr and would be killed in any such attack.

As a former member of nuclear weapons handling teams who both, was actually tasked to fire those weapons and who visited BOTH Hiroshima and Nagasaki WHILE I was doing it, I’d like to remind Goldberg of a few facts.

    1. As horrific as the Holocaust WAS, it was hardly a singular event in the annals of World Genocides. Ask the Native Americans, the Kurds, the Armenians, the Cambodians, the Yugoslavians or the Rwandans if you don’t believe me.

    2. To date, only TWO places have ever faced the fires of nuclear Armageddon, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

So if Bibi is so hot to show his Daddy how strong he is, perhaps he should do what I did and visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki BEFORE he OKs this strike. He should talk to the Hibakusha there, the Survivors of the bombings, and ask THEIR permission FIRST.

Because, from MY perspective, only ONE group of people on this planet have EARNED the RIGHT to order first use of nuclear weapons. THAT group IS the Hibakusha. NO ONE ELSE on this planet, not Kings, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Dictators or Anyone Else has earned that right.

  2. Task Force 373 – one of the McChrystal special ops teams. Thanks for a clear interview of a complex subject.

The means by which we live have outdistanced the ends for which we live. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have direct energy weapons, depleted uranium, guided missiles and misguided men and women.

  5. avatar Kingfisher says:

Is it me or does Julian Assange look like that guy from the movie Powder?
Oh btw, Assange pulled Ben Roethlisberger and reportedly raped some woman.

  6. I would imagine, bird, the creatures inhabiting the world exposed by mr Assange are mightily cross right now. At having their toilet paper exposed.
Accusations of rape will be the least of it. But one thing you can be sure of, sat in your dead tree, his courage will not feature in their letters from the front. His sharpness and memory and keen sense of justice, these are the things will not be mentioned.

  7. avatar Kingfisher says:

“I would imagine, bird, the creatures inhabiting the world exposed by mr Assange are mightily cross right now. At having their toilet paper exposed.”
The impact and extent of what he ‘exposed’ is debatable; the revelations for are unsurprising to keen observers of South Asia.

The impact and extent of what he ‘exposed’ is debatable; the revelations for are unsurprising to keen observers of South Asia. The whole hoopla and outrage of it all makes me want to revert back to good old Maximus.

“Accusations of rape will be the least of it.”
Assange will probably rape again. Deviant and predatory behavior is what happens when you give someone too much fame/money/power/attention too quickly.

Your adulation and donations to wikileaks has enable this rape and future rape’s, remo. Right now there is a woman and/or little boy somewhere in Scandinavia, and they don’t know it yet, but they are going to be raped by Julian Assange. And it is going to be your fault, remo. Way to be an accessory to rape, remo!

“But one thing you can be sure of, sat in your dead tree, his courage will not feature in their letters from the front.”
If he’s so courageous, how come he cannot go out in direct sunlight?

“His sharpness and memory and keen sense of justice, these are the things will not be mentioned.”
You know who else has sharpness, memory, and a keen sense of justice? Me.
And I saw the movie Powder – it was terrible. Saw it in the theaters too, and I have a keen sense of justice and want my money back! Julian Assange owes me at least $6.50 from his Powder/Wikileaks rape slush-fund.

  8. Therapist. The rapist.from the same factory of truth, Kuwaiti children were thrown from incubators to die on cold hospital floors. Osama appears from the shadows at just the right time but with a different nose, commission reports and building assessment reports are made and the fraudulent lists of the dead are produced to create wars that kill a million people.

    Mothers little propaganda machine.

  9. avatar camusrebel says:

I was suspicios of asshat when I first saw him. Then he denigrates the truth movement and I knew: straight-up little mocking bird bitch.

If Ray wants to sing WLeaks praises, it just drives home the old saying, “you never LEAVE the company”

Ellsworth was not as wonderful as some assume. Neither is McGovern. Both of them and assface are CIA, whose hands are drenched in blood.

If you cannot come out and forcefully declare, “I am 100% certain 9/11 was an inside/Mossad job” then kindly stop pretending you are not happy about all the murder and mayhem that is its result.

We truth seekers are growing more numerous and stronger every day. No longer will we put up with half measures or lame excuses. Either you are all in, publicly lod and proud or you are aiding and abetting evil.

If you want the insanity to stop, pussy footing around the truth is unacceptable.

Ray, when you name names inside the CIA, get back to us. Otherwise kindly STFU.

The CIA needs to be abolished.

  10. avatar camusrebel says:

after some reflection I regret slipping in the profanity, even in acronymical form.

But the way RM answered Sibel’s question about MSM’s treatment of the WLeaks story was pathetic.

As if the NYT (and Gaurdn, DrSpgl) were somehow bastions of journalistic integrity. Like he never heard of Mockingbird or Judith Miller.

Once a spook always a spook. Ask Markos.

  11. avatar virkrampandit says:

    McGovern noticably un-critical on WL.

So. This guy was a CIA analyst, but he doesn’t “get it” when Sibel critiques the “leak” and tries to prompt him (a couple of times) to talk about the possibility of deception? He just goes off on a tangent each time. He *will* discuss the content of the “leak”, but he seems hopelessly stuck on the surface. Is this how CIA trains analysts? Is he always like this?

  12. KINGFISHER must be an american, and a republican. Stupid, doesn’t like the founder of Wikileaks, so he shits in his hand as do chimpanzees and other republican and throws it. I happens dickfisher that the man was absolved of the crime the same day. can you read?

  13. for camusrebel

I agree, the CIA is nothing more than an unflushed bus station toilet in Arkansas. They have yet to do anything right, or without getting caught. There is no doubt 911 was planned by the US. But help was ready and waiting. At very least there was the UK, Israel, and Pakistan. Ms. Edmonds has listed some names of people you damned well should know in congress which you know had some knowledge of it. That would include George and his dick, Cheney.

  14. camusrebel [August 26th, 2010 at 1:17 pm ]
    > If Ray wants to sing WLeaks praises, it just drives home the old saying, “you never LEAVE the company”

Right. That is the entire point about the “interviewee”.

Twenty one minutes into this almost one hour and a half audio, even he himself unwittingly admits exactly that:

“This fellow Gul, General Gul, he used to head up the ISI, and now they say ‘he is retired’, well, you know Sibel a handful of people who are supposedly ‘retired’ back on contract …”

    ;-)

It would take a total idiot to believe that someone whose c.v. includes

“…27-year career as a CIA analyst spanned administrations from John F. Kennedy to George H. W. Bush. Ray’s duties at CIA included chairing National Intelligence Estimates and preparing the President’ Daily Brief (PDB). During the mid-eighties, Ray was one of the senior analysts conducting early morning briefings of the PDB one-on-one with the Vice President, the Secretaries of State and Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. ……”

is not one of the boys, attempting to sell disinformation on contract.

As for Gul, he may well be a “slimy character”, but this painful hour and a half audio makes a plain display of who is unmistakably worthy of that description.

Oh, yes … why … why would CIA now target Gul, via “WLeaks” and the company’s contractors…

    Quoting from http://www.engdahl.oilgeopolitics.net/Geopolitics___Eurasia/WikiLeaks/wikileaks.html :
    “…
On September 26, 2001, two weeks after the 9-11 attacks, Gul stated, in reply to the question who did Black Sept. 11?,

“Mossad and its accomplices. The US spends $40 billion a year on its 11 intelligence agencies. That’s $400 billion in 10 years. Yet the Bush Administration says it was taken by surprise. I don’t believe it. Within 10 minutes of the second twin tower being hit in the World Trade Center CNN said Osama bin Laden had done it. That was a planned piece of disinformation by the real perpetrators…”

Gul is clearly not well liked in Washington. He claims his request for travel visas to the UK and to the USA have repeatedly been denied. Making Gul into the arch enemy would suit some in Washington nicely.
    …”

  15. avatar camusrebel says:

When Ray Mac did a few sentences of his Gul impression, i was in stitches, weren’t you.

It appears the only effect the “15,000 [leaks]” will have is ground troops in Pakistan.

We must have boots on TG so we can retrieve shot down drones.

Lets see…….260,000 minus 15,000 equals two hundred forty some odd thousand floatin around. Now doesn’t it?

Think any of those relate to insidejobessness?

  16. avatar virkrampandit says:

…actually, I threw up in my mouth when he did the Gul impression :)

Someone tell Ray not to mix benzos and booze…

  17. avatar Kingfisher says:

“KINGFISHER must be an american, and a republican. Stupid, doesn’t like the founder of Wikileaks, so he shits in his hand as do chimpanzees and other republican and throws it. I happens dickfisher that the man was absolved of the crime the same day. can you read?”

    Funny:
Sweden to reopen rape case involving WikiLeaks editor

    - And throw in a NEW charge of molestation

Way to be an accessory to rape and molestation, remo!

  18. That this CIA ghoul got the podium here is beyond comprehension. If his “initiative”, still … why accept?…
