The EyeOpener- Forced Vaccinations & the Death of Health Freedom

BFP VideoNothing could be more antithetical to the very idea of individual freedom than to have governments telling us that we must put some substance in our bodies. Without ownership of our body and the attendant right to refuse this or that medicine as we see fit, we are nothing more than slaves of the state. This is a principle that has been long understood. But the reasons against mandating medical treatments rest on practicalities as much as ideal. The plain fact is that even if we can trust that governments only ever work in the interest of the people and not the medical-industrial lobby that pumps billions of dollars a year into Washington, D.C., they are still prone to error and thus their medical judgments should never be mandated on the public.

In this episode of our EyeOpener Report James Corbett presents the history and expansion of mandatory vaccination, the Nuremberg Laws, religious and medical exemption statutes in public health laws, and the government’s war on vaccination exemption as part of a long battle against freedom of choice in vaccination- one that has long intimidated and confused parents into having their children vaccinated against their will and in violation of the principle of informed consent

Well, I’m going to say it again. It would be really nice, James, if you would at least even briefly address the obvious counter-argument: that there may be a legitimate public health reason for mandatory vaccinations, at least in some cases. Your right to make your own choices is limited by my right not to have your choices screw me up. That’s an important point that deserves a few seconds of your attention, even in the confines of a ten minute piece.

Is it not possible, even likely, that some vaccines should be mandated and others shouldn’t? You make zero effort to distinguish between contagious and non-contagious diseases, diseases caused by risky activities and personal lifestyle choices and say airborne diseases that can affect anyone.

Your vaccine pieces seem more strident and simple-minded than your usual thoughtful and well-argued material. I always want to agree with you and I remain open to the idea that you’re right, but if you won’t even BEGIN to address such obvious counter-concerns, then you’re just not making a very compelling case.

I’ve never seen you respond to a comment here at BFP — it would be cool if you would. I do want to understand your point better. Before I can do that, I need to understand that you get the idea that your rights do not include the right to make me sick. You can be as cranky and paranoid and anti-government as you like, right up to the point where you try to give me smallpox. We’re living in a society here. There’s a little give and take.
