Rhetoric vs. Reality in Obama’s Terror War

EPPFollowing upon last week’s discussion of drone warfare, this week’s episode places drone war in the context of the “war on terror,” or what the Obama administration has come to call “Overseas Contingency Operations.” How and why did drone warfare become so popular under Obama, what other policies are advanced in the name of the “terror war” and can drone war itself be perceived as “international terrorism”? These are some questions and issues examined in this episode.

    Thanks Andrew

As usual this was a very interesting listen.
I’m interested in specific techniques and methods given access to us the people, through policies and thus realized as social reality. Thank you for sharing your awareness of rhetoric and reality.
GWOT, drone warfare, surveillance, assassination, intimidation, Overseas Contingency Operations, military contractors, military aid all seem to equal a war against ‘us’. A way of being is emerging that is too close to the fiction I used to enjoy because it used to be fiction. Now economic recovery is increasingly being realized as a war on populations we need your clarity more than ever. So, I want to tell you that I’m always interested in hearing and reading your work so I can learn more about the connections between all of the above.

I look forward to your next episode.

OFF TOPIC – A quick survey of military investment news and contracts allows us the knowledge that things micro, digital and biological are increasingly in use. Developments in this area of operations are terrifying. Imagining drones with bioweapons is horrifying.
