BREAKING NEWS- How the Sunday Times Investigative Series on Sibel Edmonds & US Ties to Al-Qaeda Chief was Spiked

The Sunday Times Journalists Describe How the Edmonds’ Story was Inexplicably Dropped under the Pressure of Undisclosed “Interest Groups” Associated with the U.S. State Department.

UK magazine Ceasefire publishes never- before-disclosed insights into how the Sunday Times investigative series was spiked under the direct pressure of interest groups tied to the US government. The groundbreaking and revelatory exposé is investigated and reported by bestselling author and analyst Dr. Nafeez Ahmed.

The comprehensive and lengthy investigative report contains several explosive revelations confirmed and backed by two Sunday Times’ journalists, current and former government officials, and independent experts and analysts.

I am going to break up the multiple revelations reported in this report into three separate posts here at Boiling Frogs Post. For this first post I am going to provide you with excerpts on how and why the confirmed investigative series by the Sunday Times was stopped by direct pressure from the US government and ‘undisclosed’ special interest groups [All Emphasis Mine}:

In interviews with this author in early March, Edmonds claimed that Ayman al-Zawahiri, current head of al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden’s deputy at the time, had innumerable, regular meetings at the U.S. embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, with U.S. military and intelligence officials between 1997 and 2001, as part of an operation known as ‘Gladio B’. Al-Zawahiri, she charged, as well as various members of the bin Laden family and other mujahedeen, were transported on NATO planes to various parts of Central Asia and the Balkans to participate in Pentagon-backed destabilization operations.

According to two Sunday Times journalists speaking on condition of anonymity, this and related revelations had been confirmed by senior Pentagon and MI6 officials as part of a four-part investigative series that were supposed to run in 2008. The Sunday Times journalists described how the story was inexplicably dropped under the pressure of undisclosed “interest groups”, which, they suggest, were associated with the U.S. State Department.

That’s correct. The staunch hard-working investigative reporters at Sunday Times were able to obtain independent confirmation of my reports from several former and current US Pentagon officials and MI6 intelligence officers. Now more:

In recent interviews, two Sunday Times journalists confirmed to this author that the newspaper’s investigation based on Sibel Edmonds’ revelations was to break much of the details into the open.

We’d spoken to several current and active Pentagon officials confirming the existence of U.S. operations sponsoring mujahideen networks in Central Asia from the 1990s to 2001,” said one Sunday Times source. “Those mujahideen networks were intertwined with a whole range of criminal enterprises, including drugs and guns. The Pentagon officials corroborated Edmonds’ allegations against specific U.S. officials, and I’d also interviewed an MI6 officer who confirmed that the U.S. was running these operations sponsoring mujahideen in that period.

A journalist with the Sunday Times‘ investigative unit told this author he had interviewed former Special Agent in Charge, Dennis Saccher, who had moved to the FBI’s Colorado office. Saccher reportedly confirmed the veracity of Edmonds’ allegations of espionage, telling him that Edmonds’ story “should have been front page news” because it was “a scandal bigger than Watergate.”

The same journalist confirmed that after interviewing Saccher at his home, the newspaper was contacted by the U.S. State Department. “The U.S. embassy in London called the editor and tried to ward him off. We were told that we weren’t permitted to approach Saccher or any other active FBI agents directly, but could only go through the FBI’s press office – that if we tried to speak to Saccher or anyone else employed by the FBI directly, that would be illegal. Of course, it isn’t, but that’s what we were told. I think this was a veiled threat.”

Saccher’s comments to the journalist never made it to press.

I am going to include one more excerpt and then urge you to go and read the entire exposé:

A lead reporter on the series at the Sunday Times told this author that the investigation based on Edmonds’ information was supposed to have four parts, but was inexplicably dropped. “The story was pulled half-way, suddenly, without any warning”, the journalist said. “I wasn’t party to the editorial decision to drop the story, but there was a belief in the office amongst several journalists who were part of the Insight investigative unit that the decision was made under pressure from the U.S. State Department, because the story might cause a diplomatic incident.

I want to urge our readers and supporters to read and help disseminate this one-of-a-kind brave report. I am calling it brave because despite multiple sources and experts confirming the reports, major mainstream and pseudo-alternative publications here in the United States adamantly refused to run the story, furthering the imposed blackout on Sunday Times by the US government and ‘special interest’ groups. Please help true and real investigative reporting by taking it upon yourself to disseminate this explosive story widely. Also, send the magazine a thank you note if you can – they are of a now-rare-breed in journalism. Thank you.

  1. ok.

  2. It’s great to see more validation of your story and of the truth about Gladio B/Part II. To me, this is both the most important story for understanding geopolitics and the tip of the spear for attacking the establishment narrative of the War on Terror. This story continues to be relevant today, in our continuing/evolving understanding of current events.

Would you PLEASE consider doing a DVD with the Gladio Series for the next fund raiser?

    Thank you!

  3. Sibel: in your deposition you stated that after the Susurluk scandal, “certain people” involved in foreign policy no longer supported the Grey Wolves and, instead, supported the Gulen Movement as a vehicle to counter Russia in the drive for energy sources in Central Asia. Can you elaborate on who constituted the pro-Grey Wolves faction and the pro-Gulen faction? Did the factions break down along the same lines as pre-9/11 State Dept-Pentagon-Turkish Embassy negotiations as to whether the Turks would take control of Northern Iraq?
    Thanks,
    Curt

I have to speak on this one.

If we truly have a free and independent press, then the content of Ahmed’s story should be the headline at every US news outlet. Clocks should stop and all other news be subordinated until all the meat on this bone is picked. The IRS is exposed doing what it has been doing for decades, but with no material consequence to anyone, and suddenly that’s all the mainstream media is talking about. Yet, Ahmed confirms an FBI whistleblower’s assertions of wholesale criminal and immoral activity by the US govt and NATO and the mainstream press ignores it.

Ahmed, through Sibel and others, confirms the fraudulent nature of the war on terror and the war on drugs, the free-for-all in global arms trafficking, the widespread use of blackmail and bribery to manipulate elected and non-elected members of govt . . . and the cherry on top of this pile of dung . . . the complete and utter intimidation of the mainstream press. To put it another way, the world is owned and operated by organized criminal rings. If I’m wrong, then this story will blow some lids and get serious treatment from mainstream US news outlets.

I’m not holding my breath. The only way this story becomes widely known is if the lowly common folk do the work – that’s you and me. But if you go down that road, then prepare yourself for the “buzzsaw” – the metaphorical backlash from the the criminals, their associates, and the sheep who graze on their propaganda. I’m the local lunatic in my community. Americans are the most mind-controlled people on the planet, and generally respond to truth with a blank stare.

I apologize for my rant. I am so sickened by the United States of Organized Crime – all the lies, theft, destruction, death, and suffering. At some point we will just have to say “no more, come what may, my life is not worth more than some innocent mother or child on another continent.”

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.

  5. HAL 9000–

I relate to your impression of being “the local lunatic.” You are certainly not alone in your incredulousness at the fantasy world beamed onto our TV screens and utter, disgusting failure of the “official” media to acknowledge real world events. My gratitude for Boiling Frogs Post runs deep because it confirms that I am not insane.
