Pulitzer Winner Journalist Seymour Hersh on Bin Laden Kill: “It’s One Big LIE, Not One Word of It is True”

Sy Hersh is Adamant that Obama is Worse than Bush

After a long absence, to be exact five years, since President Obama took office, Seymour Hersh is back, out, and talking. And by that I mean really talking. He is calling the reports on Bin Laden’s so-called assassination, by that I mean the mainstream media reports, those dictated by Obama’s White House and Pentagon, big lies,  pure bullshit, and not a single word of it true.

Not only that, he is also providing us with our long-sought answer to his long-gone absence- since the election of Barack Obama.

Okay, first let me provide you with some context as to what I mean by a long absence:

Two years ago, On September 25, 2011, I wrote a piece highly critical of Pulitzer-Winner Investigative Journalist Hersh as a follow up to another one of my commentaries on the same subject- questioning his long-absence despite the continuation and expansion of our wars, scandals involving the Pentagon, ongoing simultaneous black ops and covert wars, and the numerous violations of human rights laws internationally and domestically

Today, I received an e-mail from my partner Peter B. Collins with a link to an interview with Seymour Hersh. And let me tell you: what an interview! He is talking and I mean really talking. Let me provide you with a few excerpts:

He is angry about the timidity of journalists in America, their failure to challenge the White House and be an unpopular messenger of truth. Don’t even get him started on the New York Times which, he says, spends “so much more time carrying water for Obama than I ever thought they would” – or the death of Osama bin Laden. “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true,” he says of the dramatic US Navy Seals raid in 2011.

He says a recent report put out by an “independent” Pakistani commission about life in the Abottabad compound in which Bin Laden was holed up would not stand up to scrutiny. “The Pakistanis put out a report, don’t get me going on it. Let’s put it this way, it was done with considerable American input. It’s a bullshit report,” he says hinting of revelations to come in his book.

He also provides us with an answer as to why we haven’t been seeing any articles from him since Obama took office:

He says in some ways President George Bush’s administration was easier to write about. “The Bush era, I felt it was much easier to be critical than it is [of] Obama. Much more difficult in the Obama era,” he said.

Let me interpret the above for some who may require it: He is saying the publishers, the editors, the establishment, have been going to extreme lengths to prevent investigative reports or commentaries truly critical of Barack Obama. Meaning, publications such as the New Yorker or New York Times would not publish Sy Hersh style exposés when they involve Barack Obama.

Oh, please just go and read these explosive allegations and comments from Hersh. I tell you what, I am glad to have him back. Further, I am extremely glad that he is talking again. Now let’s hope we’ll see more of him and hear ear-loads from him. Of course, by that I mean now as in right now, not as in once Obama is gone.

  1. I was just about to send this to you. Glad you saw it. Maybe you and Peter B should interview him here!

  2. In that same vein, I listened to the interview of Ray McGovern at TOR, which you had listed in a recent nightly news and heard him complaining about Obama. He started comparing him to Bush but Jimenez didn’t necessarily know how much McGovern reallyneeded to be challenged about his support for Obama in the last election cycle. Personally, I still find him a little bit disingenuous, with no remorse. Basically having his cake on one side of the fence and eating it on the other. It’s difficult to forgive McGovern or Mr. Pentagon Papers himself, for having dissuaded you from publishing Classified Woman before Obama’s re-election.

  3. Yeah, it’s great stuff, I wish the interviewer would have asked a couple more questions about the whole Pakistan and Bin Laden thing. Hersh drops a bomb there and…there it sits. Guess we’ll have to buy the book!

  4. Paul Craig Roberts has been a skeptic of the ‘Osama assassination’ (as many of us have been) and here’s his latest: http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2013/09/16/pakistani-national-tv-reveals-that-obamas-claim-to-have-killed-osama-bin-laden-is-an-american-hoax-paul-craig-roberts/

  5. /Thing I see about it is if Hersh gets it out Bin Laden was psyop, that cracks the entire Government conspiracy paradigm allowing most deniers to believe it impossible 911 is what we know it is. It forces mainstream to realize deception at the level of Bin Laden HAPPENS therefore generates recognition of deception at level of 911 also. And Ghouta too by the look of it. It moves 911 up the chain of recognition. Go Seymour !

  6. I’m with you, remo. Great point.

  7. Yes, Sy, the Republicans (Bush) were easier to write about because they’ll stick the knife right to the chest and you see it coming. The Democrats (Obama) on the other hand smile a smile and give it in the back with the big hug. However, who or what gave both parties the knife? Why won’t you write about the corrupt SYSTEM and the real priests of corporate power?

  8. Go Seymour! The truth about 9/11 is getting closer and closer to the surface. The cover is wearing thin. Exposing the bin Laden raid hoax helps a lot.

  9. … what we have here ladies and gentlemen is, in part, some good old consecration … pass the collection plate of (put your balls out there) and dig deep … Syria fallout … is a water shed of realization and real eyes on the situation … peace … hanging out waiting for the Saturday night music …

  10. avatar LarryinColumbus says:

@tonywicher it does help a lot. But I would be naive to wonder why we haven’t heard from Seymour in such a long time? Whats changed?

  11. I will be very interested no less to hear Hersh’s critique on the major media and lack thereof of investigative journalism. Yes, Larry, I too wonder why Hersh took so long on voicing an opinion. However, I won’t know until I read Hersh’s book to be fair.

  12. Hersh says:

“The republic’s in trouble, we lie about everything, lying has become the staple.” And he implores journalists to do something about it.

The lie that must be exposed is 9/11. If the American people knew the truth about 9/11, that would change everything.

  13. http://niqnaq.wordpress.com/2013/09/29/i-think-we-have-to-see-greenwald-and-scahill-here-like-seymour-hersh-for-many-years-before-them-as-under-cia-protection/

as Doug Valentine observed, McCoy’s work would not have been possible without Nixon’s support, Ellsberg was himself on the dark side, what we can know is largely determined by what the dark side will allow

  14. Hersh’s comment is correct. Yet, independent journalists who do not have the seal of approval – “All the news fit for print” – are not puffed and are dependent on people searching and finding the information against the “established” dogma. The issue at hand with “established” print media is one chosen by editors and I hope Hersh addresses this. If there is no corporate sponsorship such as what Boiling Frogs has done then we’ll get an honest account of events.

I agree, Hal, that the lie of 9/11 is where precedent (tactically) needs to be addressed. This is something I hope Hersh will have discussed in his book when he addresses the Bin Laden controversy. Let’s see if Hersh “goes there.”

  15. Speaking of Osama’s liquidation of which Hersh has nothing concrete to say, even with a stable of “former” CIA hands behind him, I am somewhat surprised that the name of Abubakar aka “Berkan Yaşar” has never been mentioned on BF or Corbett’s show (I did a search). Abubakar, ethnic Chechen and Turkish citizen, had a career with the CIA in Munich, working for Radio Liberty’s Caucasus section. When General Dudaev came to power in Chechnya he became his liaison with the Turkish military and presumably Nato elements. Dudaev appointed him deputy minister of foreign affairs. You can see him on this photo in London: the bolding man left to Dudaev.

    http://haamash.wordpress.com/2011/12/13/%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B5%D1%88%D0%BD%D0%B5%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%87%D0%B5%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F-%D0%B4%D0%B5%D1%8F%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D0%BD%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%82%D1%8C-%D1%87%D1%80%D0%B8/

Under this cover, Abubakar organized or was privy of a number of Nato-inspired activities in the Russian Caucasus, including meeting with Osama in Grozny in 1992. In 2008 Abubakar revealed this and much more to a team of Russian TV journalists of Russian TV who made a documentary film “Plan Caucasus” with Abubakar and showed it on Channel One. You can watch it (in Russian) here

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbjlytrT9kQ

Abubakar’s revelations were apparently a part of the payback to Russians from the Turkish military who sought asylum in Russia after the Susurluk affair. (See Sybil’s Gladio Plan B). In 2012, after Obama had announced that Osama was dead, Yashar again went public and gave interview to Channel One claiming that Osama died of natural causes in 2006. He was told this by Osama’s Chechen bodyguards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeXgd_arI3E and http://english.pravda.ru/news/world/19-05-2011/117950-binladen-0/

Both interviews with Abubakar remained “unnoticed” by Western media. But you can find this name and his story in alternative media and Turkish newspapers. This is why I am somewhat surprised that Sybil who, I assume, follow Turkish press never mentioned him as well as any officers of Turkish military and police who according to her escaped to Russia from the Susurluk related repressions. Their names cannot be classified and should be known in Turkey.

  16. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend. War has broken out among the orcs, and all of them have to pick a side.

Too bad both sides can’t lose…

  17. Mmm in Iran and Iraq’s case I’d say both sides lost.
Yet, a third man was grinning ludicrously under the shadow of his frown.

  18. This story was amended on October 1, 2013 with this footnote:

    • This article was amended on 1 October 2013. The original text stated that Hersh sold a story about the My Lai massacre to the New York Times for $5,000 when in fact it was the Times of London. Hersh has pointed out that he was in no way suggesting that Osama bin Laden was not killed in Pakistan, as reported, upon the president’s authority: he was saying that it was in the aftermath that the lying began. Finally, the interview took place in the month of July, 2013.

Is Hersh backtracking, or did the reporter here really make such a profound error?

  19. Thanks, Hal 9000.

Sibel, please invite him to be on the Boiling Frogs show. We’ll see if he’s really that pissed.

  20. Would love to hear Peter and Sibel do that interview, Xicha. And I’m curious whether Hersh would accept the offer.

Also, I should have worded my previous comment better – by “the reporter here” I meant the Guardian reporter. Actually, such a story must have been approved or reviewed at the highest level in the Guardian, so I might just as well have said “the Guardian.” If Seymour Hersh says this about the Navy Seal raid on Abottabad: “Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true,” then it’s really hard to believe that the Guardian would not clarify his meaning until after they published the story. This sequence of events is very odd.

  21. If he believes that they lied so much in the aftermath, then why the hell would he believe any of it? This is exactly what’s wrong with journalism!

  22. avatar guitarman says:

I’m not really sure what new information about 9/11 will wake people up if they don’t already know the story is totally bogus. It’s just too psychologically troubling for most people. I’ve tried with some really intelligent people and they just won’t allow themselves to go there because it would force them to rethink their entire lives and what they believe about the country they live in.

One of the most trivial things on 9/11 is one of the most convincing to me anyway. That’s when the BBC announced on air that building 7 (the Salomon Brothers Building )came down 20 minutes before it came down. There’s literally no way to explain away the foreknowledge of that happening. That one is mind blowing along with about 1000 other things.

  23. Most Americans haven’t really looked at the evidence on 9/11, they have only consumed the cover story disseminated by govt elements and the MSM. Moreover, most Americans are sheep in so far as they will not risk leaving the herd to say “the govt is lying about 9/11!” Yes, the evidence is already out – that is how you and know the govt has lied. But it will take more than a casual exposure to another point of view for “sleepers” to wake up. My point is that journalists like Seymour Hersh have the credibility to get people to listen with an open mind, and can provide the security for them to go out on a limb with their family, friends, co-workers, customers, clients, etc. The old fable about The Emperor’s New Clothes is a true characterization of human behavior. It would only take a handful of high-profile media personalities or elected representatives in govt to bring the 9/11 deception to an end. If Seymour Hersh were to take the lead, I believe others would follow.

  24. avatar guitarman says:

Yea I hope Hersh has some good info and comes out with it. When I heard they supposedly killed OBL in 2011, I was like WTF, didn’t he die in late 2001. But you can’t even discuss it with the average person.

  25. Damage control update:from DeepSwampTIME http://swampland.time.com/2013/09/27/new-yorkers-seymour-hersh-bin-laden-raid-one-big-lie/
‘On Oct. 1 the Guardian published a correction to the article here, saying that Hersh “was in no way suggesting that Osama bin Laden was not killed in Pakistan on the president’s authority: he was saying that it was in the aftermath that the lying began.” The Guardian correction did not clarify Hersh’s comments further’[The Guardian]
