The EyeOpener Report- Blackout: The Media and the Nuclear Spying Cover-up

BFP VideoIn June 2003, then-New York Times reporter Judith Miller learnt Valerie Plame’s name along with journalists like Robert Novak and Bob Woodward. From July 2005 to October 2005, Miller spent 85 days in jail for not revealing her sources on Plame to Patrick Fitzgerald’s grand jury investigation into the Plame affair. Although every aspect of Miller’s imprisonment is strange, by far the strangest is Miller’s continuing refusal to speak out about the real Plame scandal, and that the entire Fitzgerald investigation, including her time in jail, was based on a complete sham.

Find out more about the strange media silence on the real PlameGate scandal in this week’s EyeOpener report with James Corbett.

Just wondering, do we have substantiation that Miller was actually in jail for the period specified? Maybe that sounds way out there, but over the past 12+ years, journalism has been so heavily dominated by completely unquestioned gov’t press releases/gov’t leaks with no substantiation whatever, frankly, I don’t believe anything they say. Or did they really throw her under the bus to cover up, what? I guess I have to tune in next week…

  2. Hi ccuthbert,

I thought maybe we’d see more insight into Miller as well. What appears in this episode is all about going to jail to improve her image. While I don’t doubt she saw that as a benefit, it still doesn’t explain the need for her to go. Next week, it looks like we’re moving on to the Plame Wilson couple.

All in all, this is an excellent series, though, and a good one to share.

You have a journalist that falsified news for the invasion of Iraq. Once it was proven that Saddam had no WMD’s Miller was crusified for lying. Then this so called scandel was released, and Miller whom is clearly a news puppet gets thrown in “jail” for not releasing her source about whom tipped her about Plame who was already called out 2 years earlier and is loving placed on a pedestal for her journalistic integrity. Sounds like a favor was given back to her for lying about the truth for the establishment’s war. Funny how nothing happened to Libby for sedition, and Miller was pardoned as well. Sounds like a classic case of the Potomac back scratchers.
