Empire, Power, and People with Andrew Gavin Marshall- Episode 19

The Age of Anti-Austerity

EPPTens of thousands take to the streets in Spain, Chile, Quebec, thousands of others in France, Greece, the U.K., protest movement emerging in the United States, across Europe, continuing struggles in Egypt and Tunisia: this is the Age of Anti-Austerity. Drawing on the historical roots of austerity programs in the Third World with the debt crisis and World Bank/IMF loans, the current global struggle against austerity measures, which is now developing in the Western imperial powers themselves, is placed in its specific historical context as a continuation of protests, riots, rebellions, and resistance against austerity measures in Africa, Asia, and Latin America over the past several decades.

As austerity now becomes a global phenomenon, demanding states impoverish their populations for the personal profits of parasitic elites, the people of the world are beginning to rise up in resistance, in different ways and in different places. There is one connect through it all: this is the Age of Anti-Austerity, and this is the reality of the social situation in which we exist.

The Government, The One Percent, The Resistance & The People

Classified Woman Updates & Heads Up

SEFor the past ten years, yes-that makes it a decade already, I’ve been asked repeatedly, whether by interviewers- researchers or the general public, ‘How can we bring about needed changes? How can we make a difference? What can we the people do?’ My answer throughout this decade has been consistent-always the same, ‘Stand up and challenge this rotten system. Resist. The least you can do is to support those who stand up and challenge the system. Whether it is a lone voice in Congress or a true journalist or a whistleblower … lend your support and stand by them.’

I have to say, for me, one of the main reasons I kept fighting back and resisting, the main factor in not giving up, was the support and encouragement I received from the people, albeit a very few-the irate minority. And today, that reason, that factor, still remains the same.

Writing Classified Woman was the continuation of my battle against our despotic government and the one percent who’ve been thriving upon it.

Publishing Classified Woman was a fight against that same government who tried, and is still trying, to censor every single word of it, and against the one percent who aided and abetted the government along the way.

I have been challenging the government and the mega corporate publishers and media outlets by self-publishing and bringing this book directly to you-the people. This is the continuation of my fight that began a decade ago. This is my way of resisting. This is me the citizen challenging our broken, corrupt and far too powerful system. This is standing up for my first amendment right to write-speak up and yours to read and know. Thus, this is our book. The people’s book. This is our collective fight.

The Government and the One Percent are watching us closely. They are waiting. They are hoping. They want to see us fail. They want to prove that what we are doing here is futile. They want us to lose. They want us to become an example that will deter other potential whistleblowers and their supporters from doing the same. They are waiting-watching-hoping, and meanwhile doing everything they can. Read more ?

How Do “They” Go About Identifying All These Al-Qaeda People?

Tuesday, 15. May 2012 by Sibel Edmonds

The Card-Carrying Flag-Waving Uniform-Wearing Borderless Primitive but Sophisticated yet Abstract Terrorists Called Al Qaeda

identify1We have been reading about so many Al Qaeda members killed or captured here and there every single day since the attacks on September 11, 2001. I mean EVERY SINGLE DAY. Please be my guest and check out the headlines from today, yesterday, the day before yesterday, last week … Go ahead and check the headlines for every single day for the last ten years. You see what I mean?

This from today’s headlines:

US Drone Raid Kills 8 Al Qaeda Militants in Yemen

This from last Month:

17 Al Qaeda Militants Killed in Air Strike

This from last year:

Air Strike Killed Al Qaeda Figure, Says NATO

This one from 2008:

Top Al Qaeda Operatives Killed in Pakistan

Look, I can give you a similar headline for every single day. But you all know what I am talking about here. You’ve been reading these headlines every single day as well. In fact, they are so frequent and canned that you don’t notice them after all this time. They have become regular permanent news fixtures. Don’t you agree?

What none of these government mouthpiece media channels ever mentions is how these killed and or captured Al Qaeda Figures’ identities are established. What you never get to read, I mean ‘NEVER’, is how these killed figures’ Al Qaeda membership was verified. Never. NEVER. It just doesn’t happen.

So, do you ever stop and think how one goes about identifying Al Qaeda members, whether before shooting them down-blowing them away, or, afterwards staring down at those corpses and engaging in body-counts? Do you? Because I do. Every single day. Every time I read these headlines giving these supposed Al Qaeda body counts. I do. I really do. Then, I wonder. I wonder how these Al Qaeda targets and later, Al Qaeda corpses are identified as Al Qaeda. It may sound stupid, but here are the questions I ask out loud:

Do these Al Qaeda guys carry around with them their Al Qaeda membership cards?

identify2You know, something like card-carrying NRA or ACLU members having an actual card indicating their proud membership of a particular group or organization. What do you think? Do these Al Qaeda guys carry formal cards identifying their membership and affiliation with this so-called Al Qaeda organization? Because that would be one way for our Pentagon guys to so very confidently identify their corpses. Just bend over each corpse, pat them down, pull out that  AQ (aka Al Qaeda) membership card, and yell out to their PR follower or embedded journalist ‘Yo, we’ve got one more card-carrying AQ man here. Add that up, buddy! Read more ?

BFP Exclusive: Karzai Clan Attorney Threatens US Journalist, Uses Intimidation Tactics

Monday, 14. May 2012 by Sibel Edmonds

An Inside Story into How the Beltway Powers Intimidate & Silence Journalists

karzai1Boiling Frogs Post has obtained a threat letter issued by Technologists Inc to the Examiner in response to its recent exposé involving President Hamid Karzai’s brother Qayum Karzai and his mob-like operations.

In a letter dated May 5, 2012, the company’s General Counsel Michelle E. Crawford accuses the investigative reporter of being inaccurate and libelous without providing any specific or concrete counter claim, and threatens the Examiner with legal action:

If the Examiner.Com fails to print the requested correction/retraction , Ti will be left with no choice but to seek legal action against your organization and will seek damages as well as the costs of litigation, including any filing fees, attorney’s fees, and any other costs that may be incurred.

The letter was provided to Boiling Frogs Post by an anonymous source familiar with the case. To read the letter click here.

karzai2On April 27 the Examiner published an exclusive article written by investigative journalist Michael Hughes titled ‘Karzai Family Looks to Extend Boss Rule in Afghanistan.’ The article exposes President Hamid Karzai’s mob boss brother Qayum Karzai, who has lived and operated businesses in the United States and has reportedly been on the list of ‘hand-picked’ potential candidates as Afghanistan’s next president.

Two of Qayum Karzai’s companies, Technologist Inc. and Daman Construction, are known to dominate the construction, logistics and security sectors throughout southern Afghanistan, and win every government contract with zero competition:

Qayum’s primary companies, Technologist Inc. and Daman Construction, win every government contract without having to deal with the nuisance of free market competition, which allows Qayum to reap healthy margins by, for example, selling $4 million generators to the governor of Kandahar for $50 million.

Hughes provides accounts of Qayum Karzai’s manipulation of business and news sectors in Afghanistan and his mob-style intimidation tactics including assassination plots against competitors: Read more ?

Classified Woman Interviews: Occupied Territory with Mike Feder & Declare Your Independence with Ernest Hancock

Sunday, 13. May 2012 by Sibel Edmonds

CWLast Thursday I was on Occupied Territory with Mike Feder at Progressive Radio Network. This was my first experience with this show and it left me impressed with Mr. Feder. No boohaha, no sound bites, no boisterous interruptions … A highly informed and articulate host who comes prepared and tackles his subjects with diligence .

You can listen to the show here.

Also last week, on Friday, I was on Declare Your Independence with Ernest Hancock. I had an entire hour to discuss Classified Woman and beyond. I’ve been on Mr. Hancock’s show many times and truly enjoy his passion and stand on ‘real independence.’

Classified Woman: The Sibel Edmonds Story

Sunday, 13. May 2012 by Sibel Edmonds

CWIn this startling new memoir, Sibel Edmonds—the most classified woman in U.S. history—takes us on a surreal journey that begins with the secretive FBI and down the dark halls of a feckless Congress to a stonewalling judiciary and finally, to the national security whistleblowers movement she spearheaded. Having lived under Middle East dictatorships, Edmonds knows firsthand what can happen when government is allowed to operate in secret. Hers is a sobering perspective that combines painful experience with a rallying cry for the public’s right to know and to hold the lawbreakers accountable. With U.S. citizens increasingly stripped of their rights in a calibrated media blackout, Edmonds’ story is a wake-up call for all Americans who, willingly or unwillingly, traded liberty for illusive security in the wake of 9/11.

Soothing the Beast: Saturday Night BFP-Jamiol Music, Episode 18

Saturday, 12. May 2012 by Paul Jamiol

Tina Turner & Tony Joe White

STB_S

Sooner or later we had to have Tina Turner as our BFP/Jamiol Music Pick. She needs no introduction. The only problem with her music is picking out a song from a career of phenomenal songs and performances. I decided that I would segue into her song from last week’s BFP/J pick. We listened to singer-songwriter and guitarist Tony Joe White. This week’s song, Steamy Windows, was written by White and he’s on stage with Tina with his guitar. It is really great Tina performance. So jack up the sound and if you can play full screen.

The concert was at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona back in October 1990 in front of 75,000 people. I saw Tina many, many moons ago when she was starting out with Ike Turner. It was at a bowling alley lounge in Cambridge, MA. She has come a long. long way….PJ Read more ?

Objective: The Naked Truth, The People, Minus All the “Gunk”

Friday, 11. May 2012 by Sibel Edmonds

A few notes on the decision to bypass the “System” in order to expose the “System”

Since the release of my book Classified Woman: The Sibel Edmonds Story I’ve been getting the same question in different variations: why did you decide to self-publish your book? What made you opt for self-publishing? What was the response you got on your manuscript/book? Did you even try to get this book published in the traditional way?

I know I promised you a series of articles and stories on getting this book published. I am going to keep that promise and give you plenty of ‘backstage’ stories. I’ll be doing all that once things calm down a bit around here. Meanwhile, to give you an idea, I’ll provide you with a few excerpts and snapshots. Life is short. Who knows if we’ll all make it to tomorrow? At least this way you get a pretty good idea, and no one will accuse of me playing the ‘suspense’ game.

We Need a Government Guarantee

obj1One of the top 5 mega corporate publishers specifically sought ‘a guarantee by the Department of Justice.’ Let’s call the individual on the decision-making (for book selection) editorial board: Mega Publisher A. Here is how it went:

Mega Publisher A: It is an amazing story. You have an amazing case. It is simply amazing. BUT, considering the length the government has gone to silence you and classify everything about you, what makes you think they’d let this book see the light of day?

Me: There is this process called pre publication review. The government has 30 business days to review my manuscript, redact whatever they deem classified, and once they do that, the manuscript is free to be published. Read more ?
