Drones, NDAA & Killing of Americans Paints Frightening Scenario
By Anonymous Guest Author
May Day developments have deepened concerns about a frightening scenario: the F.B.I. employing their well-practiced Muslim sting operations against the Occupy Movement with the intent of branding America’s anti-corporate, pro-democracy protestors as “terrorists,” thereby subjecting them to arrest and even “legal” military action if the protests become uncontained.
What is certain is that the legal and operational basis is now in place for the government to kill American citizens on U.S. soil who it deems “terrorists” without providing any evidence. At this point it is purely speculative whether this would be applied to a mass domestic movement that threatens “national security”–i.e., the corporate order. Read more
The Boiling Frogs Presents Pepe Escobar
Roving investigative journalist Pepe Escobar returns to our show and provides us with ‘real’ reportage on Syria and Iran. He discusses the narrow view and propaganda presented by the US government and media, and deconstructs the rehearsed messages and images presented by the mainstream media on the Syria conflict. Mr. Escobar talks about dueling psychological operations targeting Iran, the latest amateurish assassination attempts by rogue agents posing as agents of Iranian government, all carrying trademarks of Israeli false flag operations, the ‘real’ effects of the recent US-Israel operations and sanctions against Iran on Iran’s internal politics, and more!
Pepe Escobar, born in Brazil is the roving correspondent for Asia Times and an analyst for The Real News Network. He is an investigative journalist with three decades of experience in covering politics and conflicts around the globe. He’s been a foreign correspondent since 1985, based in London, Milan, Los Angeles, Paris, Singapore, and Bangkok. Since the late 1990s, he has specialized in covering stories and cases from the Middle East to Central Asia, including the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was in Afghanistan and interviewed the military leader of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance, Ahmad Shah Masoud, a couple of weeks before his assassination. Mr. Escobar has made frequent visits to Iran and is the author of three must-read books: Globalistan: How the Globalized World is Dissolving into Liquid War, Red Zone Blues: A Snapshot of Baghdad During the Surge, and Obama Does Globalistan.

The Boiling Frogs Presents William Bowles
William Bowles joins us to discuss the latest on Syria, the massive propaganda campaign that has been unleashed on the Western public, and the real motives behind a rapacious imperial power in supporting, encouraging and arming groups like the FSA and the Syrian National Council to wage war on the government. Mr. Bowles makes the important distinction between armed insurrection and a popular revolution, and talks about the West’s ‘Human Rights’ being a malleable notion utilized as a political and ideological weapon to be applied most selectively and discriminately- according to which ‘side’ the government of any particular country happens to be on, and the phenomenon of the ‘Red Tops’, all written and run by well paid, university trained media professionals who have learned how to communicate their master’s message to its target audience- the working class.
William Bowles is an independent author and analyst at williambowles.info, and a contributing author at Boiling Frogs Post. Over thirty five years of experience in the field of the media, communications, teaching, the arts and journalism, has equipped William Bowles with wide-ranging experience and skills that includes online product development; designing and developing business and marketing plans for digital media products and services; writing and editing for a variety of online environments from radio stations to online publications; lecturing and course development in digital media and online journalism and product creation. The Real motives behind a Rapacious Imperial Power’s Real Objectives
By William Bowles
Frankly, it’s not easy defending the Ba’ath regime in Syria, after all not so long ago the Communist Party in Syria and other left groups were suppressed by the ruling Ba’ath Party, its members thrown in jail and even killed[1]. But I make no apology for defending the Assad regime’s right to independence and to resist foreign subversion and an attempted takeover by the Empire under the guise of the ‘Responsibility to Protect’.
The doctrine of the ‘Responsibility to Protect’ [sic], is a stroke of PR genius that originated as the brainchild of a British colonial settler descendent in Australia, Gareth Evans, and a former Labour Party minister. The history of the Responsibility to Protect doctrine is, according to its ‘official’ website ‘The Responsibility to Protect’ (formerly known as the Right to Intervene, more on this below) as follows: Read more
‘Human Rights’ for the West is a Malleable Notion!
By William Bowles
The battle that has been raging in the southern Syrian city of Homs and that now seems to have been resolved with a ‘win’ for the government, though it would seem at a terrible cost in lives, is now the subject of a follow-up by the MSM; how to care for the survivors, and, what exactly went on in Homs? This is how the BBC reported it:
“Red Cross convoy is refused permission to deliver supplies to the Baba Amr district of Homs, which has been subjected to a month-long bombardment by Syrian forces.” — Red Cross Convoy stopped on Homs, BBC News, 2 March 2012[1]
Why has the BBC described the battle between two forces, both heavily armed as “a month-long bombardment by Syrian forces” when the reality on the ground is obviously nothing like the Beeb’s simplistic, government-inspired newsspeak? The statement is not a lie but it’s not the truth either.
“Access to the area has been closed by the authorities for security considerations. The Red Cross humanitarian convoy suspended the evacuation of the wounded from the city on February 26th, when it failed to obtain security guarantees from the warring factions.” (my emph. WB) Voice of Russia 3 March 2012

The Phenomenon of the ‘Red Tops’
By William Bowles
A fellow writer tells me that she feels overwhelmed by events and I feel the same way. An awful sense of déjà vu that we have as much chance of stopping the march to total war as they had in the 1930s. Except that this time it will not be us citizens of Empire who are on the receiving end of Western industrial-scale murder and pillage. The world’s first colonial world war, with the haves pitted against the have-nots. As I have remarked before, without a non-capitalist alternative to not only reign in some of the ‘excesses’ of capitalism but also curtail its relentless expansion, the world is essentially defenseless.
That for as long as we remain disconnected from events beyond the shopping mall or the small screen, the Empire will act with impunity, knowing full well that the only opposition will be from those on the receiving end, those unfortunate enough to get some Western ‘humanitarian aid’.
It is no accident that at the heart of the propaganda war, but buried away in the small print, the real objective of the ‘right 2 protect’, the 21st century’s replacement for being on a ‘civilizing mission’, is the spread of the ‘free market’. This is not merely an economic imperative but also ideologically driven, perhaps best illustrated by the grande dame of neoliberalism, Maggie Thatcher’s “there’s no such thing as society”.
Hopefully, capitalist Russia and China as well as the rest of the BRIC members have at long last realized that it’s not really about the West’s hatred of socialism, handy though this is in the propaganda war, but about their economic and political independence, free from the machinations of global capitalism. This is what Syria is all about. Read more
