Professor James Petras returns to our show to discuss the mounting threat of a US-Israeli military attack against Iran and the two-track US war propaganda- one directed at Iran, the other targeting the ‘liberal public’ to confuse and undermine the majority public opinion. He provides us with several factors pointing toward the likelihood of war against Iran, including the recent and on-going attacks on prominent allies of Iran- Lebanon and Syria, armed attacks and assassinations of Iranian scientists and security officials by proxy and/or terrorist groups under US and or Mossad control, provocative military ‘exercises’ on Iran’s borders and war games designed for intimidation and a dress rehearsal for a preemptive attack, powerful pro-war pressure groups in both Washington and Tel Aviv , and Obama’s 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.

Professor James Petras is the author of more than 62 books published in 29 languages, and over 600 articles in professional journals, including the American Sociological Review, British Journal of Sociology, Social Research, and Journal of Peasant Studies. He has a long history of commitment to social justice, working in particular with the Brazilian Landless Workers Movement for 11 years. He writes a monthly column for the Mexican newspaper, La Jornada, and previously, for the Spanish daily, El Mundo.
