I saw Hugh Masekela many many years ago at a small jazz club and was blown away by his music and his sound. His trumpet playing is incredible and I’ve been a fan of his for forty years. I will be seeing him again this February in Worcester, MA and can’t wait.

Welcome to Soothing the Beast. All week we work, stay involved, fight and just try to survive and come to grips with everything in this world around us. We need a break and that’s what this segment is all about. At Boiling Frogs Post when Saturday night rolls around it’s time for “Soothing the Beast” with some music. So every Saturday night (make that on a lot of Saturday nights) we’re going to take a break and listen/watch a music video. This week’s selection is the incredible Burning Spear live. I like Reggae but am not a rabid fan. My buddy turned me on to Burning Spear and I was enthralled with their incredible sounds. This selection has some amazing drums, excellent vocals, really sweet horns and a really cool conch shell solo. PJ
